    Even official U.S. accounts acknowledge hundreds of civilians who are not intended targets are killed.  The U.S. account a couple weeks ago was that about a third of the thousand acknowledged deaths were not targets of the drones.

    The article linked in the original post states that ten out of twelve missile strikes didn't hit their intended targets, and I'm skeptical of that claim.  Missiles from these drones are quite accurate in a ballistic sense.

    Also, to the extent that there is revenge involved, it might be revenge by U.S. informants that is internal to the local political scene, rather than revenge sought by U.S. agents.

    This said, it is remarkable that the CIA, rather than a military service, is waging a war in a foreign country on this scale.  One objection to drones is that it allows one to say that one has no military personnel in a foreign country while still waging a war theory, in an insincere homage to the notion that international law does not forbid firing shots across an international border from your side of the line.
