Most everyone in this city knows the federal courthouse in lower Manhattan, and knows it is just that.

In Brooklyn, we also have a federal courthouse (a new one)... and even here people know the difference between it and the other courthouses that proliferate in downtown Brooklyn.

The distinctions are clear, at least in New York.

    •  People in Brooklyn have no idea that there is (0+ / 0-)

a new federal courthouse unless they live right there.

This is much ado about nothing,

Some people just like to write diaries and try to stir up shit.

        I do.

Most everyone here knows that building.  Even if they live in Canarsie, or Bay Ridge, or Mill Basin, or Bensonhurst, or Brownsville.  Or any any of the other neighborhoods in this borough.

To respond to the commenter BBB I just asked two neighbors and they had no idea, one thought that it was downtown somewhere the other one had no idea that there was a new one.

I'm not arguing about the Ford's comment about living a block away just about trying to turn nothing into something.

to say you live a block from a Federal Courthouse and mistake it for something else.

I've had business at the First Department. You could literally walk right past it and never know what it is. It is a rather quiet place, being an appellate court and not the sort of place where trials take place.

A Federal Courthouse, however, is pretty damn far from nondescript. If you live near one, you know it.

This isn't confusion. I was being charitable. This is a lie, told for the purpose of endearing sympathy to his argument. "I'd suffer if these trials are in New York." He knows its false. You know its false.

People in Brooklyn definitely know where the new courthouse is. Even if they didn't, they know where all the courthouses are.

This is like someone in Bushwick saying they live a block from Tillary street.

but I know where the federal courthouse is.

And it has been in the news lately, the security zone, etc.

So it's not just that Ford is a political carpetbagger -- it's that he's lived in the city for about three years, and seems to know nothing about it.

A public option for health insurance is a national priority.
