The ticking time bomb may be rare, but the broader question of using force prior to convening a grand jury comes up every minute.  There were two separate hostage situations in Illinois THIS MORNING.  Know where they report it?  With the Traffic on the Eights.  Nothing fucks up traffic like a hostage situation.

In the same way, if we could locate Bin Laden, we kill him.  He has a right to trial if he surrenders, but he isn't surrendering, is he.

Subsidies without cost controls, regulatory reform means that citizens get a little more awful insurance at a huge cost to taxpayers. Like Part D but worse.

And is not on us territory, as far as we know.

That is the key distinction.  The constitution guarantees equal protection for all persons, that includes a little thing called the bill of rights.  There are triggers when war is involved, but the Administration is getting around that by declaring the battlefield to be the whole world.  We have also never declared war, I might add.

Let me ask you something.  Are you really ok with any administration, not just the current one who you like and trust, having this sort of broad extra-constitutional power?

That is the real problem with giving the executive more and more power, as we have done for 50 years.

And I am amazed at so many posts that are essentially saying "the Constitution is not a suicide pact".  Remember that comment?  Did you defend it when Republicans were making that claim?

Before you support war, look into the hollow eyes of the men, women and children who know it.
