My head is exploding from the armies of disgruntled people here threatening to abandon the party because as far as they're concerned, all Democrats are a bunch of sellout controlled by corporate money. But then yesterday, in another diary about Jennifer, we had people lecturing us that she should give up, quit the race and endorse Lee Fisher because she just hasn't raised that much money. Never mind the they are tied in the primary polls. Never mind that she has a field campaign and he doesn't. Never mind that she's already filed with more than three times the required number of signatures – gathered by volunteers — and he's still collecting signature, partly via paid petitioners. Never mind that he just fired his campaign manager.

And especially never mind that she has taken the strong, progressive positions we say we are hungry for (like, for instance, saying single payer is her preferred form of health-care reform) while he mostly takes vague, genric "positions" when he takes any at all. (Mostly he brags about his money andh is endorsements — because he's an old establishment pol who's been around 30 years, he's got a lot of "loyalty" support).

If WE ourselves turn around and say we shouldn't support a candidate whose fundraising is anemic (and there are reasons for it that would evaporate in the general), then what right do WE have to excoraite candidates for not being progressive enough?
