    It had no party at all until four years ago. The issue is specifically Lee's: he has developed a lot of inroads in 30 years and his cmapaign is not above using threats to keep people from donating. This is very much about Lee, and not about other Democrats. In fact, the last time I saw Strickland and Lee was there, Strickland appeared to be trying to stand as far from him as possible – actually, a good idea. His endorsement of Lee has been mostly nominal.

      Answer: The ODP. It has a bigger staff than either the Democratic or Republican parties in any state, including California, Texas, Florida, and New York.

      That makes Ohio a mchine state. Did it become a machine state under Strickland? Yes. Will that incur the wrath of voters? Yes. Will Portman make that an issue in the campaign? Yes.

      Does Brunner need to separate herself from the ODP? If she wants a chance to win, yes.

      Anyone who runs on the ODP line is a hack in 2010.
