I had never heard of the New Israel Fund until I read this diary.

    •  that's because you are out of it! (10+ / 0-)

I have heard of it because I've helped http://www.adalah.org/...

and it is basically a Jewish charity system aimed at ending discrimination in Israel.

    •  It is a good group... (0+ / 0-)

...and the people involved in it are trying to do good things.

They did, unfortunately, devote some resources to questionable projects.  Though the attacks are just mean and nasty.

        •  Good projects would include... (0+ / 0-)

...the work on recognizing Bedouin villages, the attempts to empower Arab women, the fights against housing discrimination, the assistance on absorbing immigrants, the work on preserving the environment, etc.

Bad projects would include working with groups that tried to pimp the Goldstone report, create charters that called to dismantle Israel as a Jewish state, and conflated the bona fide struggle for equality in Israel with the country's attempt to secure itself from its hostile neighbors.
