in the middle of the night, in direct violation of the Oslo Agreements (what jurisdiction does Israel have in Ramallah?) is an important story.

as it turns out, Huwaida Arraf will be in the Bay Area Sunday, so many of us will be discussing this ongoing crackdown on dissent in Occupied Palestine.

    Yes, i support an intifada.

has in Ramallah. After all, one maintains jurisdiction over one's puppets. It's a fiction that they have actual self-governance or autonomy.

a military dictatorship over the people of the West Bank. and worse for the people of Gaza. forced exile for the Palestinians in the diaspora.

that the West Bank has not been formally annexed and made "permanent" is beside the point, since many have lived their entire adult lives under this system or variations thereof...In all likelihood, absent a massive grassroots movement in the US and the world at large to change the situation, it will go unto 60 years and then keep on going... That means that those who were children in 1967 will live a full life under Israeli military control.

of course, i do think we will have a massive grassroots movement to finally end the occupation, and Palestine will be free soon.

though - a de facto attempt to annex parts of the West Bank. This whole Oslo thing about 1967 borders with mutually agreed upon exchanges is a convenient fiction. Israel's actions are about not ceding any of that land within the boundary created by the Wall.

And I love your optimism - I hope I do live to see a 'massive grassroots movement'.
