  •  Two bankruptcies in ten years; (10+ / 0-)

the second just a few months ago, and I still keep getting unsolicited offers for credit cards in the mail, saying "You're pre-approved!"

Pre-approved my ass.  I wouldn't qualify for a secured credit card with my record and score.  Of course I wouldn't want one anyway.

But doesn't this make it obvious how predatory these scumbags are?  Think of someone who has just enough of an adequate credit rating and score to obtain a credit card.  The temptation, given these hard times, is virtually overwhelming.  Then, as soon as you get behind, over to the collection agency it goes.

Bottom-feeders?  That's a polite way to put it.  Blood-sucking sub-human leeches is more like it.

The question is not what, but who you want to be. --F.R. Prince

genuine because of the bankruptcy itself.  You've just filed, they know they won't be put on it and that you have to pay this one...happened to a friend of mine.

After I file bankruptcy later this year, I'm getting Life Lock.  So they won't send me any more cc offers.

      Dem complacency anywhere. RIP 2010!

I am sorry to hear that you had to file again.

I have represented debtors for the last 22 years.  I started representing farmers in the 80s.  I still represent farmers, but I also represent small business owners, homeowners and retirees.  The best thing that many clients have said to me is that I gave them hope.  I have also referred many of them to mental health professionals to deal with the depression and anxiety brought on by their debt load and lack of income.  I have taken garden produce and dressed chickens as payment.

Many people come to see me and then go and think about it for months.  I had one couple come to see me in the summer of 2006.  They brought their paperwork in to me in the fall of 2009.

What makes me the most angry is that Chuck Grassley spent eight years working to pass the 2005 bankruptcy bill for the benefit of the credit card and lease industry.  He kept talking about "responsibility."  Based on what I saw in my practice, responsible lending goes hand in hand with responsible borrowing.  The 2005 bill did nothing to curb the loan shark practices of the credit card and lease industries.

I saw the unemployment problem building and building in 2009 while the people in Washington, D.C., including Grassley, saying "It's not that bad."  Not that bad compared to what?  1929?  I decided to run for the U.S. Senate because to do nothing was not an option.  If you read the polls, you know it is all uphill.

I wish you better luck coming out of your second bankruptcy.  You can email me if you have any questions that we not answered by your attorney.
