Very good job NWTerriD! I went to one of the Republican Senatorial forums a month ago and couldn't bring myself to write up something like this.

My notes on Chris Widener are

believes in small government. author/book writer. quotes bible a lot.
only way stimulate economy to cut taxes, cut spending.
    Against more moderate candidates.
Supports forcing citizens out of USA, come back when 18 in regard to children of illegal immigrants
ambivalent about gay marriage, has a libertarian streak

And if you are familiar with WA-08 you must know about Suzan DelBene, but I doubt you know about Ernest Huber. He supports a military coup against President Obama. This is one of his finer moments:

The Communist Chinese Navy is posing a serious threat. It must be countered by rebuilding our fleets. That effort will provide legitimate jobs and help to rebuild our dangerously weakened military.

I live in WA-08, it will certainly be an exciting cycle, however, we should not be worried about Dino Rossi

Cool.  If that seat ever goes Democratic, it appears it'll have to be to an ex-Microsofty at some point.  :)  I'm in the 1st, but as I'd supported Darcy, I'll support Suzan.  I only brought up her husband because his name is certainly known around the parts of Microsoft where I was.  I wasn't familiar with her, but it is a very big company.

As for this diary, I'm really glad someone did it.  I'd seen that poll about Rossi, too, and got a bit worried.  Patty doesn't seem to be taking the seat for granted (she's certainly not going to pull a Martha Coakley), but it wouldn't hurt to get out there and support her early and loud and with dollars.  I hope Rossi doesn't run.  That would really turn on the crazies around here who are itching to taste Democratic blood.

And she's in the race to win it. Early on she got the endorsement of Darcy Burner, she recently received the State party endorsement, Emily's List, and many more. (note: I wrote that before she received the State party endorsement)

    •  I've looked at DelBene's website, (1+ / 0-)

haven't done any other research on her. I was a little surprised to hear she's gotten all those endorsements you mention below; from her website she seems very centrist. But the way I look at it is that if we can put a centrist Democrat into a seat that's been Republican for decades, that's an improvement. I didn't know about her Microsoftie ties, but that seems like it could only help.

I hadn't heard of Mr. Huber; he sounds like a gem.

Relax - the adults are in charge now.

is the Democratic candidate to win in WA-08. She has a great campaign team and incredible support. I believe 2010 might be the year we will get the 8th.
