The question has to be asked, why are they Democrats? I'd like someone to ask them that. My family got involved in politics in the early 20th century because of unions, and have been yellow dog Dems because of that ever since. If either of these clowns represented me, I would vote for a third party, or vote for no one for Senate. At least the Pugs are honest about the filthy policies they represent. These two turn coats are wolves in sheep's clothing.

Fighting the base of the Democratic Party or components of it, is detrimental to the party.  Allowing the base or a component of it to be run over by government or corporate policies is detrimental to the party.  Fighting against measures to help the base or its components are detrimental to the party.

he has to be to hold onto his seat in a red state.  Undesirable, but understandable, and it has always been thus.

Blanche Lincoln is in a different situation.  Her senate seat is throwback to the old Dixiecrat frame of mind.  When the Democrats were the party of segregation and had a lock on the South, people we now consider conservative (because they wanted to "conserve" Jim Crow, states' rights, segregation and a host of other nasty habits) voted for Democrats.  Arkansas was one of those states.  There are still people in the South who cast their votes reflexively for Democrats, although there aren't many of these people left.  But there are enough left in some parts of the South to elect Democrats if the Democrats talk a good enough game of being conservative, and that is how Blanche Lincoln has survived as a Democrat.  Also Arkansas Democrats elected Bill Clinton as governor (repeatedly), and there is still some residue of these Democratic voters who are willing to vote for a Democrat.

If she wins another term as a Democratic senator it will be because she "out-Republicans" her Republican opponent.

"In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for; as for me, I rejoice that I am not a Republican." - H. L. Mencken

I'm from ND and one of our Senators, Byron Dorgan, is a fierce defender of unions. If you didn't know, ND is a VERY conservative state, and somehow he keeps getting reelected (though he is now retiring which sucks). No, Nelson is just a POS, and so is his BFF Lincoln.
