  •  I'd love to replace them with better Dems (0+ / 0-)

Halter looks like he could be that guy in Arkansas (though I'd like to see his opinion on things like this), but I don't see any potential replacements for Nelson that could actually win in Nebraska.

What I was objecting to is the idea that there's no difference between Nelson/Lincoln and Republicans.  There's a significant difference.  What would the stimulus package have looked like without those 2 votes, for example?

    •  Oh yeah. There's a difference. (0+ / 0-)

Correct. If only there were a place where one could go to get a broad-spectrum gauge of the relative progressiveness or conservativeness for members of congress, based on some objective criteria -- like maybe tracking how they voted on the 20-25 most telling pieces of legislation that come up for a vote each year. Then, people wouldn't be forced talk out their butts about this stuff anymore. They could base their characterizations of senators and congresspersons on objective and directly comparable metrics instead of vague impressions and mood swings according to whatever was news in a given week.

      Perhaps some place like:

      or

      http://www.acuratings.org/

      Wouldn't that be great?
