    I tried googling an origin for this phrase, and got three different answers.

    Earlier this week I wrote a diary about the feasibility of a "Universal Translator" that could do real-time spoken translation, and one of the stumbling blocks is cultural idioms & the translator getting the gist of the meaning.

    This weekend I used the phrase "kill two birds with one stone" when talking with a Filipino woman, and she had no idea what it meant until I explained.
