  •  Rachel is always magnificent (28+ / 0-)

because she is a very intelligent, educated woman who can explain complex issues without using bumper sticker slogans like ms. mooseburger.

    •  She is the best thing for News on TV (37+ / 0-)

Of course Keith pioneered this concept of having really smart witty people give us opinion and news. I'll never forget when MSNBC forced him to cover the Lewisnky mess night after night for well over a year. He begged NBC to allow him to do other stuff, they tossed him a few late night bones and then the inevitable happened. KO couldn't take it. Same people , same spin, every fricking night. So he does what any sane individual would do because we weren't in a great recession:  "I quit" .

There was a fairly large outcry considering the audience size but NBC was firm. I remember one show he was doing after he gave notice. They used to have the news person for the next hour give a summary of the show coming up. In this case it was Brain Williams. As Keith put it (paraphrased) "Wow , it's cold in here". So then he disappears to Fox sports and realizes what Fox really is  and accept an enormous sum to semi-retire for a few years.

Many years later I 'm flipping through cable news and saw saw Keith. Thinking the Hallucinogenics had kicked in a little early, I flipped back and yes, Keith was back. This time he meant business. A small but bright light in the darkness of the Bush administration.

Then Keith along with many here managed to get Rachel her own show. Between the two there is nothing that comes close for those who have brains and think critically.

If MSNBC ever pulls those two well I guess Kos is going to have to sit down with the VC vultures and raise himself a few hundred million/a few billion for Kos TV on Cable with it's two anchors; Rachel and Keith. Of course it will be integrated like no other show with the net and once again a new standard will be set for intelligent news and opinion broadcasting.

      Just thinking out loud. HAHA

don't think Olberman is anywhere near as good as he used to be.  There's a sense in which his show has almost become a parody of itself and he now comes off with a sort of left bloviating tone like the pundits on Fox.  Occasionally I feel that he strains with his worst person in the world and special comment gags, making rather small things into huge deals.  There's so much conservative lunacy that I just don't understand why he does this.  I also think it was a huge mistake to have nightly comments.  Finally, I think he needs more diversity in the people he has on.  But this is just me.  I can hardly stand to watch the guy any more.

Rachel is different.  I hope she doesn't let the corporate producers get to her.  Her reporting is genuinely objective and geared towards the pursuit of truth.  She shies away from "gotcha" issues and sticks with what's important and significant at the legislative level.  She really is about the only genuine journalist on the airwaves today.

some ups and downs. The pressure to be "on" every night is enormous. Just look at your post. Eventually it wears you down. He just needs to relax a little and not let the pressure eat him up. He is very much an A personality who is probably harder on himself than anyone. I'll bet you he's beating himself with a mental whip.

By Comparison, Rachael is new to this and still fresh. There will be a time when people will complain about her too. But that's one of the reasons they get paid big bucks. They have to deal with it. To people like those two, it really isn't about the money. I think they both want to do their best every night.

Indeed, we are lucky to have them.
