    and I can't ever imagine living in North Carolina again (although if I won the lottery, a beach house on Wrightsville wouldn't be out of the question), but I do wish there was somewhere here where I could get a decent barbecue plate.

      And can't wait to move back to New England.  No matter how I try, I cannot become accustomed to the Confederate battle flags that are on flagpoles all along my rural road. I had the only Obama sign within miles of my home in north Durham County and it was torn out of the ground and destroyed several times before I stopped replacing it. Chapel Hill, Durham, and a few other college towns in this state may be progressive, but on the whole its very conservative.

        I think about all the Dixie crap, and see what my high school classmates have to say responding to my RW brother on Facebook, and I remember some of the reasons I left.
