You would think after all these years that nothing our Virginia legislature does would shock me. And then this.

I sent my representative and senator email asking them to vote against this bill.

And while I'm on my soapbox, check out

Many an insightful opinion and observation can be found on my web log Occam's Razor.

Yeah, and the patron of this "fetal death reporting by mother" bill is the same guy who is spearheading the movement to amend the VA consitution to ban same-sex marriage this year.

As if DOMA and HB751 weren't enough.

One of the reasons I actually started reading all the bills this year, actually, is HB751.  I considered myself very politically active and committed, but I never followed VA legislation closely, and the results of the last General Assembly session really threw me -- the feticide bill, the "Marriage Affirmation" act, and the one I just learned about this week that allows people to get "birth" certificates for stillbirths.  This stuff just sneaks by most of us in Virginia until it's too late to do much to stop it, and this time I'm going to work harder to make sure that doesn't happen.

    •  Oh, and thanks... (none)
...for contacting your delegate and senator.  I really hope they all get inundated with mail about this.  This is just the kind of bill that often sneaks by without much public ruckus -- I hope we can all work together to raise a ruckus!
