  •  The monster once created turns on the master. (0+ / 0-)

A common theme in movies. The GOP created this monster, the tea party roots are astroturf. They welcomed, helped to grow the hyper-extreme-right, and game them a good seat at the table. They drove everyone else out of the tent. And now the teapartiers think they should be at the head of the table.

The tea party movement is a monster. It's a lurching, incoherent beast. Perhaps the GOP can control it, perhaps they can't. If they can't control it, and it becomes a third party of its own, it's lifespan is determined on whether or not it continues to be a lurching, incoherent beast.

So far, the hyper-extreme-right has a tendency to shake their fists at certain groups like Wall Street, but then line up in support behind the Republicans who work for those same groups. They can be as disaffected as they want, so long as they obey. What Republicans are concerned with is whether the teabaggers will continue to obey. Too early to say.
