  •  He was the first to call himself pragmatic... (0+ / 0-)

Shunning the notion of being wed to any ideology.

I guess he wasnt a very skilled pragmatist.

Should a "progressive" Dem blog dwell in the safe zones of a tame party, or should it drive a tame party to break out?

serving as the sacred cow of your economic program.  Summers, Geithner, and Bernanke are all very ideological people.  The very idea of bringing in a Stiglitz or a Reich or someone else of a differing ideology was never even considered.  Volcker did propose restoring the Glass-Steagall firewall, but that idea seems to have died in recent weeks.

Ironically enough, despite his openly DLC approach, WJC did bring in Stiglitz and Reich.  It never occurred to me during the '08 primary fight that the Obama economic team would arguably be even more Wall Street-friendly than the WJC economic team was.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream of things that never were and ask why not?

re his much ballyhooed freedom of ideology. (Although Im glad it prompted you to make those very spot on points)

I do feel sorry for him though, having taken that valiant journey to rise above the low down grit and tussle of principled stands, to the top of Mount Purity, where there is zero ideology as far as the elevated eye can see... and only pure pure purity, gobs and gobs to inhale... as deep as the nose can suck it in...  no wonder he seems to float so fabulously above it all!

And yet, still, he gets hammered so!

The unbearable lightness of being ... ideology free.

I guess it's a cross he has to bear. :::Sigh:::
