Selling Insurance across State Lines triggers NAFTA-like provisions in the GATS treaty that potentially makes affordable healthcare impossible!

is flipping out because he's terrified it will pass and prove him wrong (His angle is that everything except single-payer is a usueless crock of shit). So he's flinging right-wing talking points at us — most of them   overblown or debunked.

          •  If you read up a bit on GATS you'll realize that (0+ / 0-)

the Obama adinistration IS effectively the right. Their agenda is privatization of everything, including Medicare. If you look closely, they have been making progress (in THAT) Thats what their masters in the WTO want to see, and why they want to trigger GATS on healthcare so all public plans and compassion are out of the question, forever.

            Thats what happens.

Don't ignore the truth just because it contradicts the lies you have been told- Open your eyes!

              •  I wish, I really wish that you were right (0+ / 0-)

but you aren't. This is a complicated issue. Its basically coming down to the people who run this countries priorities. the people JUST DONT MATTER like they used to and the resources that used to be spend on them because they were essential to the businesses successes just aren't available. The rule of supply and demand says that people should be worth less and less as there is more and more supply, and thre is no limit on how low it will go. But even faster than that Moores Law is making uneducated people even more replaceable by business. I know a lot about technology and its a magical thing but its posing some very crucial questions like this one.. Money isn'ytt some natural thing, it was invented by people for the purpose of allowing transactions without having to trade physical commodities like water or food or air. But, people's labor is defined by a number of factors, one of the most important ones is that REALISTICALLY it cannot be worth more, it is often actually worth exactly what it costs to hire somebody- or build a machine to do that job.

Every single person who wants to remain employed has to keep their skills honed and improving. They have to make that their fuull time job ON TOP OF their full time job.

And even the smartest of us have to also accept that we are in copetition with every other human being on this lanet.

Telepresence robots are an interesting new invention, they basically allow me to be somewhere else. If I want to do a job in India, I can slip into my telepresence workspace and put on my data gloves, and manipulate physical objects in 3d space on the other side of the world. Haptics will even tell me pysically, by applying pressure to my fingers, when I am "touching" something. And how much force is being exerted at the interface of finger and object.

Sounds expensive, but I assure you, mass production and extremely cheap bandwidth and high speed fiber will make it cheap.

now, suppose I was a doctor.

Or a fast food restaurant worker. About the only jobs I don't see that happening in are prostitution or politics.

(BTW, that is a interesting part of what GATS is all about. THAT KIND OF BUSINESS.)

Our leaders have not been honest, they have been creating a false sense of confidence because the truth is unpleasant, and they have no easy answers for Americans. there aren't any ways they can bring back the good jobs.

There is a truth, do good work, be smart, don't limit yourself Dont play the "thats not in my job description" game.

The truth - can they help me now- is what determines if people get work or hired. Its what determines if a business is viable and if it hires people, and where it does that.

                Am I making any sense?

GATS trade agreement= the unseen hand behind the lies They are the REAL free market extremists! - GATS and healthcare don't mix
