      Ten well-placed "mouthpieces" would cost 1.25 million, easily covered by a slush fund or some "anonymous" benefactor. Who knows how many more of these types are getting smaller checks? In some markets, an extra, say $10,000 a year under the table can do a lot of good and insure that these people have a voice even in local media. And free-lance "hit" pieces, they probably pay for too.

      Who knows, there could be a whole army of paid flacks behind the "conservative" phenomenon, lining up to get their pay day. No wonder they aren't all that original! Who needs to be original when you can get paid by saying exactly what you are told to say and when to say it. And do you even care about content with this scheme anyway? It's not if you risk losing anything much.
