It seems like we'll just go right back into the recession/depression.  U.S. debt is already over 12 trillion dollars.  Its not like we can afford to keep stimulating the economy at the rate that will be needed.  That would require raising taxes and cutting spending somewhere else, two things that are probably impossible given the leadership in Washington.

The key is not only how much you spend, but on what.

For example - defense. The US spends 44% of its tax revenues on defense, and spends half all all money spent worldwide on defense. OBVIOUSLY this is not sustainable, especially as defense spending is essentially a waste - especially when the US's economic competitors are spending less.

So much less on defense. Cut ag subsidies. Increase taxes on the higher income folks. Increase energy taxes to build self sufficiency (the US trade deficit is almost balanced now, without oil imports).

I can live with doubt and uncertainty and not knowing. I think it is much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers that might be wrong- Feynman

I guess it depends upon what you  mean by  "Stimulus." If you mean, the stimuls bill, then I dont the the impact of it ending will be that great. It doesn't even end this year, BTW, as some expenditures are projected into next year. I am more concerned about the withdrawal of "easy money" by the Fed than I am of the end of the stimulus bill.
