  •  "Obama personally supports a public option" ? (13+ / 0-)

Maybe Pres. Obama likes the 'idea' of a PO, but that does not equate to support (ie working behind the scenes for it and wanting to sign it into law).

"...but may not support the politics necessary to get it done."

The 'politics' to support the PO is bucking AHIP. I totally agree that Pres. Obama would never support crossing AHIP's 'No PO' line in the sand.
Now if AHIP suddenly did a 180 and said they would accept a PO, then Pres. Obama may urge the senate to add it and pass it.  Otherwise, no, the WH certainly does not 'support' a PO, period.  Granted, lately Pres Obama and Harry Reid have been using language that 'implies' support (read lip service) for the PO.  Wake up and smell the coffee. That AIN'T 'actual' support.  Actual, real support means fighting for the PO, not sitting on the sidelines repeating, "Well if we ONLY had the votes, blah, blah, blah"!

I used to have hope. Now I just see most conservative Dem's audacity in maintaining the corporate status quo.

      I'll stick with my take.

I'm not so much into ascribing motives that I can't solidly back up.

      •  Otto, sorry my frustration was not meant to be (7+ / 0-)

directed at you.  I do agree with you that my view of Pres. Obama's motives are based solely on my perception of his actions.  As you describe yours as your guess.  We'll agree to disagree on our thoughts on the president's actual motivations/ reasons for his degree of support or lack thereof, for the PO.

Boy, would I love for my view to be WAY off and a decent public option gets added and passed by the reconciliation bill.

        Peace
