    1. I have no regrets about all the time I have spent being involved in this and all of the GOTV. I saw many good times, bad times, sad times, uplifting momemts and depressing times. But it has been worth it all.

their registrations en masse at the end of President Eisenhower's term. I have been a registered, active Democrat since the 1960s, and I am proud of that fact. I vote in every election.  I can't tell you how many times I have walked into a polling place to vote on a local issue and there is no one there but me and the poll workers.

May I suggest you volunteer to work the polls once or twice?  It is quite an experience.

When our party disappoints you, remember this you have to be inside to make the changes you want. The Democratict Party had a strong racist Southern base, and we fought that base from within, even becoming delegates to the Conventions and fighting to change the party from within.

Today because of those internal fights, the Democratic Party most closely resembles the people, the values and the goals of America. There will be times when your party will disappoint you. Don't give up and walk away; stay involved organize and fight for what you believe in.  Try to make the party as a whole a better party without destroying it.  It can be done.

      Congratulations! Great diary.

I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about real change in Washington...I'm asking you to believe in yours. - Barack Obama
