The school will now be in trauma for years- that's what happens when a strike occurs and this is even worse.  Hatred and mistrust will be widespread.  The relationships that teachers nurtured with students will be broken- those kids will be set back by having to start new relationships.  I would guess that the 71% that graduate each year will cut down quite a bit.  A lot of disfunction for questionable gain.  Both administration and union have to face these situations with realistic expectations.  If you know anything about these things you know a group of 93 teachers can't find jobs in new communities without uprooting their entire lives.  But since you don't live there maybe it's not that important to you.

at-risk schools, knowing they are likely to work very hard and then be fired for results beyond their control?  The learning atmosphere at home and the parents' attitudes and support play a huge part in the success of a student.  Is Duncan going to fire parents?  Is he willing to be fired if his plan doesn't work and the school still fails?
