      But still, I agree with the WaPo: it is stupid of them to go the way they did; nobody will want to work there!  But it was also stupid to go the way they are going; look at the results!  Both sides are right!

      Last I checked, Fenway Park is not in Afghanistan.

        correlate most firmly with the socioeconomic status of the parents of the test takers.

        We don't know the conditions under which these students were living.  I used to have a student who lived with practically no guidance from an overworked mother and no father and in a house that was fundamentally a pigsty with broken windows all around.  He was an incredible discipline problem!  

        I suppose it makes sense to rotate the teachers in classrooms like mine so that none of them stays long enough in any one classroom to suffer catastrophic burnout, but I won't pretend that such policies do anything for the students.
