  •  From Mormon friends I've learned that (0+ / 0-)

Mormon celebrities REALLY get leaned on by the church. When they're nobody, nobody really cares if they're "off the reservation" about LDS policies and doctrines. When they become moderately well-known, the church starts to lean.

I don't think I've ever actually heard or read of Donny or Marie Osmond being anti-marriage-equality, but that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't. The circumstances of her son's suicide could potentially point to Marie's family being at least disapproving of homosexuality, even if she's not publicly ranting about it. But, again, that's speculation from the outside.

Marie's son's suicide and won't speculate. It's true that Mormon celebrities are pressured, but the Osmonds are above that. They are arguably more popular and powerful than the church.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was Donny on The Graham Norton show. It was clear that Donny had zero homophobia, he was in no way uncomfortable.

have more to offer the Church than the Church has to offer the Osmonds.

However, the Church holds the ultimately Earthly trump card: the keys to eternal bliss (or damnation). That keeps a lot of very rich, popular and powerful people in line.

        •  Can you imagine a public fight (0+ / 0-)

between the Osmonds and the church. There isn't enough popcorn in the world for that, lol!

Sound torn. I dug this up from The Democratic Undergroundthat suggests the were for Prop 8 before the were against it, or vice versa. Or something. We can definitely they were not on the front lines for either side, unlike Rev. Rick.

Also found this interviewwhere Marie confirms have a lesbian daughter and her support for "gay rights."

Sounds like the family's struggling with a little tension between their faith and family. Which is perfectly understandable. I wish them peace and happiness.
