That is a real issue. And part of the blame is because of the Stigma of Medicaid. Some doctors say they are tired of Medicaid patients not showing up to appointments, etc.
But we can only work on one issue at a time. Medicaid is headed in the right direction.

Its crazy that they must not have a working car. But I suppose that's the way welfare programs work. The public option for the working poor can't be workable or else people who weren't truly desperately in need, would use it.

      •  No need to spend down anymore (0+ / 0-)

Come on- read what I wrote. The big change is that: 1) it's not tied to AFDC/TANF anymore, so people without dependent children can get Medicaid; and 2) there is no more asset tests for people under 65, so you no longer have to empty your savings before you can qualify for Medicaid.

        •  Really? I was just reading that some want to add (0+ / 0-)

means testing for everything.. but I don't remember where I read that, it might have been in the GATS paper that Ive been reading, (long and dry and depressing and international in scope, so not just the US. I think they are trying to eliminate single payer systems so that they can sell healthcare - your money or your life, everywhere. Thats what those trade agreements try to do, make everything determined by money)

Look, I realize that this is a big mess but its all we've got.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that there is a better way, one in which we all can do better and make more money, even the people who we see as causing the big mess we are in now can be happy. And healthy. I think that even they must realize this - what we have now, is totally unsustainable. I mean, especially they must realize that, of all people. They must know it better than anybody. Their hands are tied too.

Its the system that does this to people. The system must change- not a lot, just a little.

There is a better way and the discussion on that can't begin as long as people keep on lying about health care being fixable with these really ugly and unworkable fake reforms that are bluntly just designed to keep prices high and punish everybody who simply is there. We all need to put our arms down, do some breathing exercises, and start fresh.

We can do it, we will all come out ahead.
