...insurance is so complex, the only ones who are qualified to write the legislation-or who talk "insurance speak" are the very ones who we are trying to change and/or regulate! I predicted all of this in a diary last June, concluding with "we don't deserve the beating we're about to get from the insurance industry". But it's sadly the nature of the beast: The HC Industrial Complex, owns our leaders through their armies of lobbyists and suitcases full of cash, they write the legislation because nobody else understands it but them, and they, therefore control the agenda, the debate, and our government.

But we still hold the TRUMP CARD(mass protests) in our hands! And big insurance prays every day that the clock will run-out before we notice that card has always been in our hands and we realize it in time to play it! Time is on their side. Money, power and influence in high places is on their side. But we still have the vote and the power to protest. We already voted for change. The rest is academic.

    •  The American people don't do (0+ / 0-)

"mass protests." And even if they did, it's hardly a panacea....there were mass protests against the war in Vietnam for a good ten years before it ended, and that was the high point of mass protest.

...my dream (and personal goal) of forming a National Consumer Protection Union.

"The America people don't do mass protests" under my proposal will become a permanent thing of the past. I've been writing a diary on it and will publish it in the next few days. I invented a single machine in 1998 that washes and dries clothes. Dirty clothes went in and clean and dry clothes came out. The Japanese beat me to the patent then, and stole my idea. In December of 2005, I invented an IED-resistant, multi-vehicle adaptable shield and a "V" shaped hull IED-resistant vehicle --and spent the better part of 2006 trying to cut through a mountain of red tape submitting it and selling it to the DoD-- that our government refused to "officially" accept(even as our horrific casualties mounted daily), but nevertheless incorporated my hull design in their MRAP vehicles serving on the front lines of Iraq/Afghanistan today. That's ok, though, because making blood money was never my intent; I offered it to them without charge, anyway!

I plan to leave this NCPU idea as my last living legacy for anyone who shares my vision of a re-vitalized American working class, meaning I don't care who "steals" this idea from me. Besides, for every great transformational innovation, it takes more than one like-minded individual or improvement to the original idea to carry it through to fruition. There's no "I" in TEAM. One person cannot do this alone.

FDR's New Deal was a compromise. It was either that or the alternative was revolution. And it's going to take revolutionary thinking to change the status quo today. Always has, always will! Call it "social inertia": Things at rest tend to stay at rest. Things in motion stay in motion until an external force is applied. This "force" is the American people's power of the mind and of the will.
