so I subscribed...well mostly liked 'cause there is no better sport than FOOTBALL!!! All other so called sports are just time fillers until the season starts again.  And you didn't explain your user name...

I'll be going back to read some of the older diaries as time permits  ;D

Back in the 1980s, there was a programming tool called a "disassembler" (also called a "debugger"). If you wrote programs in assembly language for, say, a Commodore 64 (which I did), you could use a debugger to trace what was happening to the registers and the memory locations.

So I used the name Dbug (or Dbugs) on various BBSes. Dbugs = Debugs.

But it also sounded like the name used by various criminals. Bugsy Siegel. Bugs Moran. It was a geeky computer kind of name and a semi-dangerous gangster name.

Plus there's also the "bug" name. A bug is an insignificant creature. Other people were picking names like "GandalfTheWizard" or "KingOfTheWorld." Fuck that. I'll be a bug as a reaction against the kings and the wizards.

So there are three explanations for Dbug.

Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
