I see or speak with my 88 year old Mom every day - sometimes twice or more per day.  Once, my sister who lived next door, called my Mom before she went to work for the day because my Mom had mentioned not feeling well.  Mom said everything was fine and she was feeling better at 7:30 AM.  I was going to be near her neighborhood around 11:00 that morning and decided I'd stop in just to make sure she was alright.  I found her semi conscious and bedridden.  She had basically misrepresented how she was doing to my sister so she wouldn't worry about her.  She ended up in the hospital for a week because she was dehydrated.  My Mom can sound GREAT on the  phone sometimes but in person you can often get an entirely different perspective.
