  •  It will not be YOU who will decide (0+ / 0-)

Stupak's fate - you are in Texas, doesn't you? So (IMHO) it would be better if you would take care of your own fanatics (there are plenty of them) and people of the 1st district would decide whether they want to keep Stupak (i am ready to bet $100 that they will)

    •  You are probably right (13+ / 0-)

But it's worth $100 of my money on the slim chance that Stupak can be defeated.  Who knows, maybe God will tell him that he should spend more time with his "Family", and he'll drop out of the race.

      •  Well, (0+ / 0-)

that's at least theoretically possible. Probably we will find out May 11th (Michigan filing date)

could you give us a little more insight into the specific issues on the ground in your district at the top of Michigan? It's always more complex than it appears from the outside.

          •  As i said - i persnally don't live (0+ / 0-)

in the district, but i have friends who do. A very large mosstly rural and small-city district with a lot of hunters (so - mostly pro-gun), lot of ethnics (so - mostly pro-life), generally dominated by UP (Saltonstall, as far as i know, is NOT from UP, and that's additional minus). Somewhat attracted to democrats on economy, but not on social issues. And so on... A "roosevelt Democrat" can run and win there, modern "liberal big city slicker" - unlikely...

might not have a strong chance - she's not from the UP, and that's incredibly important to the people in the UP.  They already feel ignored and neglected by the lower part, and I don't know how many will vote for her because of that.

I do laugh, though, at how you lambast others because they won't make the decision since they don't live in the district, and then it turns out you don't either.

You know no more about it than anyone else posting here.  I live here.  Have all my life except for about 10 years of college, etc., and the first years of my career.  You can't generalize about the area.  We simply don't fit into any of the cookie cutter molds.  You'll have no idea what we decide to do until we do it.  So let the primary begin.  That's the only thing that will tell you what we really want.

I never ADVISE anyone in any district whom they must vote for and i abhoк when i see people from God knows where doing that. Even when i have strong personal preference - it's up to them to decide who will be their next Congressman. I am ready to bet that 3/4 of Stupak-haters here not only don't live in the district, but are from California, NEW York City and other "far away-places".

And despite you living in the district you seems to know nothing about it. That happens sometimes with some ... well, not very clever people. I know about the district more, as sad it may be for you....

                •  You are funny! Of course 3/4 of the Stupak haters (3+ / 0-)

here are from something other than his district.  After all, about 99% or more of the posters on this site are from outside his district.

So you've now proven that anyone who doesn't agree with you is well, not very clever. Oh, that one hit home so hard.  I've got a post graduate degree, graduated with honors and with high honors, scored in the 95 percentile in my graduate exam.  So it was just like a sock in the gut to have you, brilliant, logical, open minded and well written as you, to tell me I'm not clever.

You might THINK you know more about the district than someone who lives here.  Doesn't mean you actually do.

    •  I live in Florida... (9+ / 0-)

and Stupak is now impacting MY family with his personal views. My son will age out of his insurance and Stupak may cause him to be unable to afford insurance if this bill does not pass.

So I have EVERY right to be involved in this discussion as does Ken in Tex and every other American. I will definitely donate to Connie when I have the money to do so.
