Still, I donated big to her already.  She's the best senator we have.

    •  The best senator California has, maybe. (1+ / 0-)

      •  well that, obviously (0+ / 0-)

but in the entire Senate she is at least one of the best.  Who is in the running?  Feingold?  Sanders?

        •  Merkley, Whitehouse, Brown. (1+ / 0-)

          •  *sigh* The governor's race is just depressing (0+ / 0-)

I swear democrats pick losers after losers after losers when it comes to California politics..

            Jerry Brown? Seriously?

He claims he's had some sort of miraculous transformation in the past decade - He's a MODERATE now! Because as we all know bipartisanship has done wonders for this state. >.>

Worst of all he's talking about not getting rid of Prop 13 and its 2/3rds majority needed to raise taxes, but rather to work with it.

This law is singularly giving republicans far too much control in the state. Anytime someone wants to fix the massive regressive tax structure in Calif - the party of No steps up to bat with just a little over 1/3rd of the votes in the legislature and kills it.

That puts legislature redistricting in the hands of an independent panel made up of dems, repubs, and indies will likely quell that 2/3 problem.

The problem with the CA legislature is that all the seats are gerrymandered to be safe for both parties.  Meaning the most liberal dems and most conservative repubs make it to Sacramento.

when the seats are redrawn NOT to be safe, More moderate repubs will make it to the capital who are willing to compromise.

hopefully this problem is temporarily fixed.

Republicans, the best comic relief any party could hope for.

It can also mean that more moderate democrats are put in office too.

I think you're also vastly overstating the balls of the legislature in general. These people do not do ANYTHING anymore. For the first time in my life I can truly say that THIS form of government DOES NOT WORK.

I'm so fed up with the California government I could puke.

These bastards are the ones ruining San Francisco MUNI and BART and think that its okay to do massive fare hikes on the backs of the poor.

These bastards think its alright to cut funding to State universities SO BAD that SFSU had to accept ZERO new freshman AND transfers. NO-ONE could apply for Spring 2010. I have to put my entire fucking life on hold for a semester because these assholes couldn't get their shit together.

Let's not even get into the Prop 8 bullshit. These fucks had to sit there and just let discrimination be voted in by the populace instead of doing what was right.

In the 60s - the legislature had the smarts to vote for interracial marriages being okay. The populace was split 60/40 AGAINST that. In the millenium we can't even get a vote with 50/50 for gay marriage.
