    sources have concluded that although the Japanese fleets and government are pushing strongly to continue to fish bluefin to extinction, the Japanese people aren't aware, for the most part, that there is even a problem. The fishing corporations are complicit with the government to keep the consumers in the dark about the numbers. The key to getting the situation turned around is to go directly to the consumers. How I don't know. I admit to deep ignorance regarding mass education of insular cultures like the Japanese. In America we have organizations and consumer groups that help us stay informed when there is a food issue. Perhaps there are similar organizations in Japan who might be interested in spreading the word that continued overfishing of the bluefin will crash the species within a matter of a few years.
