  •  Ive read news stories that made clear that this (0+ / 0-)

is an extremely contentious issue. Its not a little, minor thing. Health care issues surrounding drugs and illness and poverty may seem so cut and dry - as if any logical person would see things a certain way - but the truth is, human life is not held in such high regard that things always make sense when there is money to be made by witholding something.

There is actually a school of thought that believes that poor people shouldn't be helped.

Its a very ugly response to the gradual emergence of a global consensus on a great many issues pertaining to poverty and the rectification of long standing injustices, and its resurgent.

Unfortunately the United States is one of several strongholds of that kind of thinking. Its more common than many realize.

because the United States basically said other countries can take over our old industries but you had better plan on paying for our new drug products.

Other nations have the rights, but the Bush administration made it very clear that the US was prepared to retaliate as hard as possible.

We have to have something to sell to pay for the oil and other imported raw materials, clothes, toys, and Toyotas.

        In Long Beach and Newark

Have you ever seen them? Its like the airliners in Arizona.

Or the mothballed fleet in Suisun Bay. Or the mile after mile of half-built homes outside of major cities all throughout the Southwest, sitting empty, growing mold. Miles from anything.

        What a mess.

        •  Basically people in the US GET WHAT THEY PAY FOR (0+ / 0-)

None of the normal folk can afford even half of the cost of healthcare with the insurance waste, but without the insurance deniers everybody gets care. They cannot have that because health is what keeps the rich rich and the poor poor. People would not pay extra to live in a safe neighborhood if every neighborhood was safe. People would not pay for clean water if all water was clean. People would not pay for good schools if all schools were good. Then, what would be the worth of a Harvard or Princeton degree? See?

Obama got elected by downplaying the stark totality of this.

He told the little people that they were still big. That they "matter". Obviously, they couldn't matter in his world but they desperately wanted to hear that because, lets face it, moving to someplace where they could afford healthcare terrifies people, even though they know that here they are just a piece of meat that has passed its expiration date.

The sharks are picking them off one by one at will. The ones with assets wont keep them long. They are never going to get good jobs again, so they will never get good healthcare again. Why should the machine invest in people whose usefulness to them is over? Obama plays on those fears by offering them empty hope, but of course, undermining them all the way.
