What's the queerarchaeologist plan for educational improvement?

BTW, my brother is now in his 12th year teaching 6th grade social studies in GA. He would love to know how his students' scores compare at the beginning & end of his year. In other words, in terms of percentile rank, are they higher when they leave him than when they arrived in his classroom? The data are not tracked. No way for him to find out. Crazy.

The HeyMikey 40-40-10 education reform plan:

    (1) 40% of federal educational funding goes to the schools in the poorest third (approx 1 std deviation below the mean) in terms of $ resources. No strings attached. They can use the $ to lower class size, buy computers, repair buildings, buy SUVs for the superintendent's mistresses, whatever.

    (2) 40% of fed educ $ goes to the 1/3 (approx 1 std deviation above the mean) of best-performing schools . . . in terms of sustained improvement from previous years. This means if you start out in the 90+ percentiles, it will be practically impossible to qualify for performance funding. Again, no strings attached; do whatever you want with the money.

Note: this means if your school system is average-wealth and average-performance, it will get zero federal education $. That would probably be controversial but is actually a feature, not a bug. If a system doesn't qualify for federal $ then its local voters will be pissed off and will demand change.

    (3) The other 10% goes to research and disseminate sound educational methods. Funding large, multiyear, soundly-designed studies. Sending US teachers and principals to intern in the best schools in the world, and bring their methods back home. Bring the best teachers and principals worldwide to the USA. What are they doing that's different from what we're doing? Let's find out, and spread it around.

without blaming teachers, parents, administrators, or slamming the administration's plan.

      This --

-- is stunning. Could this be true in every state??

Tracking student scores should be basic to teacher evaluation!
