for such a thing. But before we even think about a blogathon, we need to get the other stuff set up -- which is a substantial bit of work. How much is needed, where the money will go, who can best distribute ovens. I am in the baby stages of organizing a walk/run fundraiser in my hometown. Let's see if that pans out.

Also, there are philanthropists who give money to these enterprises as well. Expect to hear from us about it in a few months -- no doubt in an EcoJustice diary. :)

      •  Well designed solar ovens could be an improvemet (2+ / 0-)

        in developed countries as well.

I crave a few windmills and those tall wide funnels that collect rainwater into cisterns - anything to get out of the clutches of utility monopolies.  Heck, I wouldn't mind a hand crank pump fed from cisterns.  Used to enjoy using those pumps when I was a child.

DUKE Energy has a captive market here. They will not give so much as a one day extension for scheduled disconnect.  In freezing Winter weather I think, by law, they can't disconnect residences.  But business accounts get lopped off regardless of how crucial water supplies are to the survival of that business.
