  •  I am a cyclist, and I understand (11+ / 0-)

motorist frustration with many cyclists. There are a lot of us who think we own the road.

But how that should lead to essentially calling for the murder of cyclists, whether they are obeying the rules or not, is utterly beyond me. This is beyond the pale, and Kornheiser must not only lose his job, but his driver's license (to protect any cyclists along his route.)

If apes evolved from humans, why are there still humans?

I feel the same way. There are plenty of cyclists around who give those of us who actually, y'know, believe that vehicular laws apply to us. The ones who don't feel constrained by any laws at all give the rest of us cyclists a bad name. But that doesn't give ANYONE the right to aim a 3000 pound weapon at us simply because we might be inconveniencing them.

There was the case, last year of a doctor in LA (A DOCTOR!) intentionally assaulting cyclists with his vehicle because they got in his way. He got in front of them and slammed on his brakes. One of the cyclists went through his rear windshield and he did nothing whatsoever to help (violating his medical oath in the process).

The courts threw the book at him. Kornheiser deserves nothing less.

one violation of the law does not justify a second one. Regardless of the behavior of certain cyclists, nobody is justified in using a car to "get even."
