  •  Another example: Rep. Jim Walsh in Syracuse, NY (none)
He's a "so-called moderate" Republican, now serving his 8th term in the House. He comes from a district that voted for Clinton twice, as well as Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. Walsh knew where the power lies in his party, so guess who he got chummy with? First Newt Gingrich and then Tom Delay. Delay greased the way for Walsh to become the chair of one of the 12 Appropriations subcommittees.  So Walsh is a very very powerful member of Congress.

Guess who the Democrats ran against him in 2004.

NOBODY. Not even a token candidate.

Walsh of course votes for all the Republican-backed legislation, throwing "moderates" a bone occasionally. But when push comes to shove, he supports the Republican agenda, and worse, supports Delay, Hastert, Bush and Cheney.

Needless to say he also declined to oppose the Delay Get Out Of Jail Free Rule.

We need a REAL Democrat to run against him.
