  •  I saw that. (3+ / 0-)

I can appreciate your pride, and his.

We always scream about Grayson and Weiner being the only Congressfolks worth a damn, but Dingell is a decent person.  There are a lot of Thanks to go around.

    •  Dingell, friend of polluters. (0+ / 0-)

I've seen some of Dingell's handiwork, writing letters to EPA to try to convince them to go easy on major industrial polluters in his state. He was happy to defend these foreign-owned corporations poisoning the people's air and water. He may be a Democrat and on the right side of some issues, but as someone who values his health -- and wants better healthcare -- I can't get excited about him being the one holding the gavel.

he's always however been a supporter for the companies that support the economy in his district. can't blame him for that. The Democratic party needs people like that in order to create pragmatic compromises in environmental legislation, which Dingell has been a key figure in, including the ESA.

        •  Yes, you can blame him. (0+ / 0-)

When a company in Dingell's district violates the Clean Air Act for 17 years in a row, pumping millions of tons of added pollutants into the lungs of downwind neighbors, you can blame him for writing letters to EPA urging them to go lightly on the fine... which winds up being like a parking ticket to the polluter.

          It's a disgrace.

tha supports your district, or, in other terms, doing your job by representing your district's best interests in Congress.
