  •  Why should we lose seats? I have been with Obama (3+ / 0-)

from the '04 convention. All my friends and relatives said he didn't have a chance, he's an unknown with too little experience, Hillary has it in the bag, etc., etc. and look what happened.

I, for one, refuse to believe we will "lose seats" because it always happens.

Let's go for 65 in the Senate and 270 in the House this time around! Hell, if a skinny black kid with a funny name can become Pres anything is possible!!

    •  Teabaggers are having a big impact in places (0+ / 0-)

like MS-01. Travis Childers is facing a huge contingent of Republicans all lickin' their chops at his seat, and are very likely to get it.

I suspect this is the very same case in a lot of rural district in the south and west that have conservative leanings and have seen the most sympathy for the "throw the bums out" teabaggery.

    •  Love the sentiment and your commitment but (0+ / 0-)

the thing is that we needed Indies to get there last time and they were motivated against the "status quo", we are no the status quo - and they are mightily pissed off at the perception of same ol same old. Dems are not nearly as motivated to get out and vote as the Rs are -- not even close. So here's to hoping with HCR behind us, we can move forward and show some more "things done" which will bring those indies around again and fire up our Dem base. I would love to see gains, I just don't see it at this point, but November is a lifetime away. And you're right anything IS possible, just be clear eyed about where we are now and how brutal this cycle is going to be for incumbents.

Indies who wanted reform. I think voter turnout after these accomplishments will motivate Democrats and left leaning Indies to show in November.

      •  I never said it would be easy. But let's not (0+ / 0-)

declare defeat before the coin toss.

Barry has already given us our 2010 slogan: "This is what change looks like!" Picture this as the theme of a commerical message with on camera statements from real people who have been directly helped as a result of this law - and there will be hundreds, if not thousands, in each district by November.

To quote Bill Murray in Ghostbusters - "and Lenny, you will be saving the lives of millions of registered voters!"
