What Davis decided not to even attempt was to educate "Johnny Ray" along the lines of:

"Hear me out for half a minute:  those of you who'd be bankrupt or dead if you didn't have Medicare, you know, don't you, that you're benefitting from a government-run insurance program, don't you?  Medicare.  And that program let's you choose your doctor and won't kick you off like the insurance companies do.

"Of course this bill doesn't even go so far as to open up Medicare to other Americans or provide uninsured Americans or those getting gouged by their insurer with a public insurance option:  that was dropped in order to appease Republican Senators and Congressmen.  A lot of good that did!  You want the "donut hole" closed?  This does it.  You want the deficit reduced?  According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, this bill does it.  The AMA endorses this bill.  So does the AARP, the American Diabetes Association, the the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the American College of Physicians, Paralyzed Veterans of America, the American Heart Association, and the Helen Keller Center... just to name a few!  I could go on, but will leave it at that for now.

"So just take the 'doom and gloomers' with a barrel of salt, o.k.?

O.K., that'd take 30-45 seconds to say, and say again and again and again. It would smack down the lies and build-up Davis' credibility as a Leader, with Spine.  But he'll have none of it.
