  •  Any Dem is better than Portman (6+ / 0-)

I hope that once this primary is over, both Lee Fisher and Jennifer Brunner will combine their efforts and their dollars and their supporters into working to elect the Democratic nominee to the Senate.  Each side must avoid nastiness as both Democrats are qualified, capable, and given a real effort and effective campaign and enough money to buy TV ads telling Ohio the truth about Portman will have an opportunity to win.

    •  I hope so too (6+ / 0-)

but unfortunately, Lee Fisher has injected so much divisiveness into the campaign already, I'm not sure how that will work. I'm trying to put this on the back burner, but when bullying and intimidation tactics are being used (go to and read what happened in Wood COunty, for instance), it's tough.

Lee Fisher's biggest problem, as I've said over and over for a year, is that he CAN'T beat Portman with his current campaign. He talks about money, money, money, but both will be at a huge deficit to Portman, just as Sherrod Brown was to Mike DeWine in 2006. At that point, you need to have a compelling campaign with issues that strike at the heart of what people are concerned about, just as Sherrod did. Jennifer has crafted that message and delivered it over the last year. Lee hasn't. He still has no effective answer for when Portman attacks him on why he quit as director of development when Ohio was bleeding jobs. He's fumbled around and gotten away with it so far, kinda. (A couple of newspapers have called him on it, most notably the Youngstown Vindicator.) Portman won't wait a second before going in for the kill.

Stop Rob "The Job Outsourcer" Portman. Jennifer Brunner for Senate
