The nuclear waste problem: Where to put it?

Currently, the US has no permanent disposal site for nuclear waste. A new presidential commission is exploring ways to solve the problem of storing highly radioactive spent nuclear fuel.

President Obama's new Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future has a mission that nobody else has been able to do: Find a long-term storage solution for America's growing mountain of radioactive nuclear waste.

    •  Storing the lethal waste is a big problem... (0+ / 0-)

      but not the only problem

Proposed expansion of uranium mining near our Grand Canyon national treasure threatens to cause massive radioactive contamination.

The huge new uranium enrichment facility being constructed in tiny Eunice, New Mexico is another cause for great concern.

The nuclear power industry is gearing up and poised to build a new generation of radioactive waste producing plants to be financed on the US taxpayers' dime trillion dollars.

Just imagine how the nation would benefit if that same money were directed towards developing clean, safe, and life affirming solar panels and wind turbines.
