  •  Hey, I grew up in Dearborn, MI - I know snow (2+ / 0-)

When I first moved here, it wasn't the lack of snow in the winter that threw me - it was the lack of rain in the summer.  So bizarre to go 4-6 months without a drop of rain.  I remember a night about three years after I moved here when we had thunderstorms - it was all anyone could talk about at work the next day.  For me, it felt like a little bit of home.  But after all this time, I've acclimated and don't function well outside the 60-68 degree temperature range that is the hallmark of life in the fog belt.

The frame of reference is too different for anyone who had lived there for a while. ;-)

The lack of rains for months at a time threw me, too. And I also missed those summer storms (though lightning is only fun when it strikes unoccupied areas).

I still go back regularly on business. I help friends out with evening dog classes and if the temp drops below 65 people show up with jackets and maybe gloves. They look at what I'm (not) wearing and go "Aren't you cold!" I simply reply "I'm from Colorado", which is so alien to them they just nod as if to say "oh, yeah, I bet you use a snowmobile to go grocery shopping!"
