And that's exactly what Romney did to run in the 2008 campaign. I'm not a resident of Mass; but, before 2008, what I heard from Romney sounded centrist, often made sense, etc. Hell, he was, supposedly, pro-choice.

And then came the 2008 presidential cycle. In my 50 years of following politics, I don't think I've ever watched someone sell out in such a short period of time. The pandering was sickening. He was either living a lie before, or living a lie now. Someone living a lie in order to gain power is someone to avoid.

    •  yes, except I would submit that (0+ / 0-)

McCain changed several of his reasonable views quite quickly in 08, too.

    •  He didn't flip flop any more spectacularly (0+ / 0-)

than Giuliani or abortion rights. Giuliani, with a pro-choice record in NYC, experimented with being anti-choice but gave up. No one was buying it. That more than any other issue doomed his nomination chances.

Being a Catholic didn't help either. The evangelical RW doesn't trust Catholics any more than they do Mormons.

I have flow thru Detriot in recent months and the number of TSA women in hijab is alarming. It's like the foxes are overseeing the chicken coop -- A RW blogger.
