  •  Teabaggers called him a traitor for voting with (5+ / 0-)

Democrats on a jobs bill and it depends on how Scott votes on some things. As Scott said with jobs and other issues, he will not always vote party line. So time will tell.

    •  Scott Brown has 2 options in MA (5+ / 0-)

Go full teabagger, earn their forgiveness for the jobs bill vote, lose the independents and the election
Go moderate, lose the teabaggers and the election

I think even if he ran for president it would be the same thing. The teabaggers have split the party. A candidate has to appeal to both independents and teabaggers to win, and that's just not possible.

no way to straddle that fence.

there is no way for the GOP to secure its base without a teabagger on the ticket and there is no way to attract indies with a teabagger on the ticket.

there is no solution for them here.

Probably more like 2016 for Brown but he's definitely got potential for the GOP if they ever get their shit back together and lose the 'baggers.

      •  2016 will be the year for moderate GOPers (3+ / 0-)

By then they'll be tired of getting their asses handed to them in every election since 2006 and will have decided that perhaps some moderation is at hand.

also by then the country will be more left of where it is today and we MAY see a dem/rep moderate alliance actually have a contest with the true left.  sort of like the liberal party and the NDP in Canada.
