If I taught on a college campus, I would like to be able to carry. Maybe not in a rural Kansas town, but definitely if I taught in an urban setting like Richmond, NYC, or Boston. I am well-trained and responsible.

When I was 21, I wasn't a firearms owner, but I would not have carried back then unless I felt someone was threatening me. And I definitely would not have carried if I was going to a bar.

I can't really comment on the Board of Regents. As far as LEO's go, I've heard two distinct opinions from LEO friends and family members. One is, "Let us handle the crime fighting." The other is, "I'm ok with trained individuals who respect the law carrying concealed."

Here's the sad reality of being a police officer, and one that would personally suck the life out of me if I were in the business: in instances of violent crime, you are almost never in a position to stop the crime in progress. Usually you're arriving after the crime has been committed or after there are already victims. I can appreciate that LEO's have a tough job, but they can't protect everyone.
