    I just wanted to let you know, 1864, what an important thing you're doing for your son.  I don't know how old he is, but I don't think I can overstate how much it means for a gay child to have a parent in his corner.  

    As Indie so poignantly explains, one of the hardest things about being gay is the isolation.  Imagine growing up having to conceal who you are even from your parents.  Imagine thinking that what you are is so awful that death seems preferable to life.  That is what being a gay child can be like.  Take it from someone with personal experience.

    By standing up for your son, you've spared him that.  You've done him a tremendous service, and I hope you realize that.
