There's a primary to take on Michelle Bachmann between two very good candidates.

Taryl Clark is great. But I suspect she comes across too liberal for this district.  Can't see any way she can win in November.

Maureen Reed is also great. She's a doctor, who once ran as an Independence Party candidate, but is now a Democrat.  Unlike Clark, she should have no trouble appealing to moderate or conservative/indepdendent voters who are turned off by Bachmann's crazy.

Maureen Reed is more conservative than Clark on some things, but there's one big exception that is huge to me -- I was doing some research a couple of weeks ago to see if I should give money to one of these candidates, and I found an article (sorry no link) in which Maureen Reed came out strongly for a public option and Clark was using weasel words to avoid taking a position on it.

Normally, I would go with the more progressive candidates, but if the more progressive candidate is shying away from the public option -- while the more conservative one is a doctor who promotes it -- and if it's a conservative district where an unabashed liberal is unlikely to win against a demon-spawn like Michelle Bachmann, then I go with the candidate who can win.
