    "decriminalization" means. In the Netherlands and several other European countries (Portugal is another example), marijuana is not legal, but has been effectively decrimanlized, i.e. you won't go to jail for it and it won't go on your record. Coffee houses selling pot are tolerated as long as they don't stockpile large quantities of it.

    I mentioned yesterday that there is a similarity between decriminalization and driving 56mph in a 55mph zone: technically, it is illegal but in practice, it is tolerated. And for good reason: America locks up more of its own people than anywhere else in the world anyway... and who would want to live in a country where everyone is arrested / fined for everything that is technically illegal?  

    If the public option leads the US to Communism, then maybe we should spread Democracy by sending our for profit insurers to North Korea and China.
