people who use any drug that alters ones mind should have that on their record.  Employers have the right to see this information and use it as they may.

      •  No it is not! (0+ / 0-)

I see the problems associated with just minor drug use.  I teach in a public high school!  Since I also teach science I would love to see a scientific study that showed that smoking anything would not cause health problems.

The only study that I have seen shows that smoking marijuana slows down brain development in adolescents.  This correlates with what I see in the school I teach at.

I also believe that this has lead to the huge dropout rates in many states.  And when you talk about dropout rates you need to know how they are counted because many schools, mine included show a 93% rate.  That rate is so high because it is counted by the number of students who enter 12th grade in the fall and those that then graduate in the spring.  If you actually count this statistic as those that enter 9th grade in the fall and those that graduate 4 or ever 5 years later the number comes down to 53%.

So tell me why we should let people become potheads!

Or, say, allergy medication?  What about food?  Hell, interacting with other people can bring about marked changes in the human brain - on both a psychological and chemical level.

Or maybe, instead of penalizing people for what they do outside of the job, you just check for how the do their job?  If you come in to work high and do a shitty job, then you get fired.  If you smoke weed on the weekends, what fucking business is it of your employer?
